Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 Dates (Tentative)
According to Hindu mythology, this is the very cave where Lord Shiva revealed the secret of immortality (Amar Katha) to Goddess Parvati. The naturally formed ice Shivling inside the cave is considered highly auspicious, and darshan of this holy Lingam is believed to cleanse one’s sins and bring spiritual liberation (moksha).

Routes to the Holy Cave
A. Pahalgam Route (Traditional Route)
- Starting Point: Pahalgam (115 km from Srinagar)
- Total Trek: Approx. 35-48 km (Return trek)
- Duration: 4–5 days (Both way)
Route: Pahalgam → Chandanwari → Sheshnag → Panchtarni → Amarnath Cave
B. Baltal Route (Shorter but Steep)
- Starting Point: Baltal (near Sonamarg)
- Total Trek: Approx. 14 km (one way)
- Duration: 1–2 days
Route: Baltal → Domel → Barari → Sangam → Amarnath Cave
Baltal is suitable for pilgrims with good physical fitness, while the Pahalgam route is more scenic and gradual.
Helicopter Services for Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026
For senior citizens, families with kids, or those with limited time, helicopter services are available from:
Neelgrath (Baltal) to Panchtarni
Pahalgam to Panchtarni
From Panchtarni, a 6 km trek or pony ride takes you to the cave. Helicopter tickets can be booked via the official SASB website or authorized operators.
Registration Process
Registration is mandatory for all yatris. You can register online or offline through designated bank branches.

- Government-issued ID proof- (Adhar Card, Pan Card, Driving License etc.)

Medical Fitness and Preparation
The Yatra involves trekking at high altitudes in unpredictable weather conditions. Pilgrims must:
- Medical Certificate (CHC), Pilgrims will arrange by own city. The Pilgrims through helicopter pilgrimage, Without Compulsory health certificate (CHC)/ Medicals, pilgrims not permitted to go for darshan.
- Pilgrims opting for trekking packages must submit a medical form and obtain a registration pass, which is sufficient for participation in the Amarnath Pilgrimage.
- Amarnath cave is situated at altitude of 12756 ft. so Oxygen level very less over there, pilgrim’s advice that they carry oxygen pouch for own safety.
- Pilgrims have problem of Sugar, Ashthama, High blood Pressure, Heart Attack / Bi-pass surgeryor any other type of patient should be avoiding to go Amarnath yatra.
- Pilgrims Should carry Woolen cloth/ Leather Jacket/ Good quality trekking shoe/ Rain coat/ Umbrella/ torch etc.
